Is there an urgent care or ER on 30A?

Short answer: no — there is no hospital or emergency room directly on 30A. If you live here or you're renting along the corridor, it's worth knowing where care actually is before you need it.

There's no hospital on the 30A corridor

The scenic 30A communities — from Inlet Beach and Rosemary Beach on the east end through Seaside and WaterColor to Grayton Beach and Blue Mountain Beach on the west — are beautiful precisely because they're not built up like a city. The trade-off is that there's no hospital or freestanding ER right on 30A itself.

The nearest full emergency rooms sit along the US-98 corridor: toward Miramar Beach and Destin if you're on the east end, or toward Santa Rosa Beach to the west. For most of 30A that's a 20–30 minute drive in normal conditions — and in peak summer months, when US-98 and 30A clog up, that drive time can roughly double.

When it's an emergency, don't wait — call 911. Chest pain, trouble breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms (face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), a severe allergic reaction, or any life-threatening situation needs emergency care immediately. Telehealth is not for emergencies.

Your realistic options when you're sick on 30A

1. The emergency room — for true emergencies

If symptoms are severe or life-threatening, the drive to the nearest ER (or a 911 call) is the right move, full stop. ERs exist for exactly that.

2. Telehealth urgent care — for the common stuff

The reality is that most reasons people look for urgent care aren't emergencies: a feverish kid in a rental, a urinary tract infection, swimmer's ear, a nasty sunburn, a rash, a cold or sinus infection, or a minor injury. These can usually be handled by video. That's why we built FirstCall Urgent Care — you connect with a board-certified ER physician on secure video for a flat $100, and if you need a prescription, we send it electronically to the pharmacy closest to you. No drive, no waiting room.

3. A nearby pharmacy

After a visit, your prescription goes to whichever pharmacy is closest — typically Publix at WaterSound Town Center for the east end, Publix at South Walton for central and west, or Walmart on US-98 when you need a later or weekend pickup. (More on the after-hours options in our after-hours guide.)

Good to know: a video visit is also a smart first step when you're not sure how serious something is. A physician can tell you quickly whether you can be treated from home or whether you really do need to head to an ER — so you're not guessing.
